Okay, that title is for those of you who are familiar with 'Pigs In Space' as brought to us by Jim Henson, probably about 100 years ago now...
Anyway, I need you to wish me luck, keep your fingers crossed etc etc, as I am going to try yet again to get Daughter's passport today.
Having obtained the birth certificate - and rescued it from the recycling, as detailed in a previous post - I then had to reprint the photos which you may recall were not taken against the correct colour background. My printer has now run out of ink so until the next lot arrives in the post I can't do any more. If these are no good we are in big trouble.
Look, here's one.
And while I was printing them out, Daughter said: 'Don't we need to get them signed?' Yes, of course we did. Cue frantic phone calls on failing battery in attempt to obtain home phone number of countersignatory who wasn't answering her mobile and for all I knew had gone away for Easter. Only she hadn't, and came round to my house and signed the photo.
We now only have about four weeks to get the passport. I had planned to make the application in person, but apparently you can't do this for first-time passports. They claim that it only takes two weeks if you use the check-and-send option. They also claim to answer your emails, although I've yet to see evidence of that.
Hopefully, then, I will be able to report later that the passport application is on its way and everything is the right colour, length, has been filled in properly etc.
