Hehe, look at me, keeping up with the numbers!
I've just added to a thread on UK Stampers about ink pad storage, so I thought I'd show you mine.
This is one of the baskets in the Antonius storage unit I showed you last week; they're fairly inexpensive and I'm finding them most useful.
Prior to this, I had the Distress ink pads on an Ikea spice rack which I got from Freecycle, but now they've been ousted by those little glass spice jars they're selling to fit the shelves, which are perfect for little oddments like beads and findings, bulldog clips and all that stuff.
As you can see, the Distress Ink pads are now on their sides. I took St Tim at his word when he said that it didn't matter which way they were stored, and indeed it doesn't seem to have made any difference. They're also easier to get out than when they were stacked on top of each other, and they do fit rather perfectly in that compartment! Underneath them is some rug-stop stuff so that they don't all fall over when the compartment is less than full.
(ETA: That thing that Tim Holtz said, came from someone else on here, you may recognise your own reportage, lol. Apparently the ink in the pads forms a 'suspension' and won't drip out or move around. So storing them upside down doesn't make the surface any juicier, and there is no 'right way up'.)
There are only two ink applicators in that other bit - I swear I haven't put them on top, lol. Lots of cut'n'dry foam, though, and it's easy enough to find the right bit.
So I'm very happy with this system at the moment; I thought it might be a compromise but it hasn't turned out that way at all.
If you'd like to see some more crafty corners, there's a lovely long list on Julia's blog here. If you're on that list, please know that I don't actually aim to visit everyone on the same day, and I don't expect an apology if you visit my blog 'late' - any visit at all is most welcome and appreciated.
Lately I've taken to visiting in blocks of ten - the first ten after my own, the first ten from number 1, the first ten before my own.....whatever takes my fancy! I think it's a shame that the people who post first seem to get far more visitors than those at the end. So let's mix it up a bit! :D
Great storage ideas!

Hah - loved your cat story too!! In fact, don't you find that if ANYTHING is precious/expensive/dear to your heart, then the bl***y cat will come and snuggle down as sweet as you like!! Love your posts - they make me hoot :D xx

Excellent storage there for those ink pads. (I still store mine flat, as I had a problem with one of my distress inks - brand new, unopened and bone dry.) I am trying desperately to use the stuff I have rather than buy more, so that I can fit everything into my existing storage.

You're welcome, Maggie. I had an ink pad like that, it came from my LSS where their stock is a bit chaotic and their turnover a bit slow. I think inkpads are a bit like fruit, lol, you have to buy them fresh! :D

That looks like useful storage. I have my inkpads in a metal drawer unit where they stack on top of each other. What would we do without the Swedish shop?!!
As for the maxi dress, I would love to make it. The top part is shirred, something I've never tried, so will have to look on Youtube for a tutorial. :o)

I guess old habits die hard. I still store mine the old fashion way, but they are so easy to get to because the little drawers they are in only allow for three pads deep. I don't buy ink pads, either. Most of the ones I have were gifted to me. I'm a reinker kind of gal.
As for the heat tape receptacle, I now have heat tape wrapped around my water pipe that comes into the house. In order for it to be functional, it has to be hooked into an electrical receptacle. I chose to not have it direct wired to my electricity, but wired so I can plug it in when the weather gets cold and unplug it in this 100 plus degree weather! So, I'm not sure if you need one or not (grin)! Happy WOYWW.

I hear you, but it goes against the grain for me to store mine on the side! I just need to get over it, I think. Well, if TIM says it is so it must be, right?
:D

Such a great storage system ...thanks for reminding me that TH pads can be stored any which way. I agree about mixing up the visits ...I do that but maybe still take too many from the begining. I also try to always look at the last 5-10.

Hi there Helen, loving the storage system and only discovered about two years ago glad been storing my ink pad the "wrong way" for over ten years..so not too strict about it just do what suits.
